Carlos Sala Ballester

(Choral and Orquestal Conductor , Pianist, Professor)

​Carlos Sala Ballester began his musical studies at the age of 8 in the Musical Conservatory of Aragua State, specializing in piano and chamber music.
In 1989 he obtained a scholarship from the Soviet Union Government allowing him to study at the Academy (Uchilishe) of the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, where in 1994 he graduated with the title of Choral Conductor (Suma cum Laude) in the class of prof. Yuris Fransievich Radishkievich.
In 1994 he was accepted to the Russian Academy of Music "Gniesin" of Moscow, where he obtained the Master of Musical Arts in 1999, in the class ok prof. Vladimir Anufrievich Cimeniuk. He has participated in many courses, including choral and orchestral conduction in Marseille (Egor Rieznikov), Zaragoza (Martin Smith) and Stuttgart (Helmut Rilling).
He has been guest conductor of the Niños Cantores of Villa de Cura, Aragua State Opera Choir, Antonio Estévez Chamber Choir, Teresa Carreño Choir, Ciudad Guayana Symphonic Orchestra, Symphonic Orchestra Carlos Mohle of Maturín, Orquesta Sinfónica Venezuela (O.S.V.), Orquesta Sinfonica de Maracaibo, Orquesta Sinfónica Estado Aragua, Orquesta Sinfónica Gran Mariscal de Ayacucho. Orquesta Filarmónica de Venezuela, Orquesta Filarmónica de Cochabamba (Bolivia)
Since 2001 he has taught as a professor at the Universidad Experimental de las Artes (UNEARTE) as part of the orchestral conduction faculty. Since 2010, he has also become professor of orchestral conduction at the Experimental Faculty of Arts (FEDA) at the Universidad del Zulia.

Principal jury in several piano contests: Silvia Eisenstein (2016), Rosario Marciano (2016), El Piano Venezolano (2016, 2018). Since January 2019 is the Artistic Director of the El Piano Venezolano Contest.
In parallel to his activities as university teaching and orchestral conductor, he is chamber musician, performing regularly in various concert halls of Venezuela.
